While the difficulties encountered while caring for the elderly are stressful, caring work can also cause negative emotions such as anger and resentment in the caregiver. Although the characteristics of the age and thecaregiver’s own characteristics are effective in the source of these feelings, they are directly related to how
the caregiver perceives the difficulties he or she faces. Attitudes such as not being able to communicate correctly with the elderly person being cared for, taking on too much responsibility, not being able to express one self correctly, being overly self-sacrificing, and seeing oneself as inadequate are behind the feeling of anger.
