Affected people show different behavioral patterns. Some can be frozen and apathetic, while others can
be restless, hyperactive or exhibit aggressive behavior. First of all, it is important to support those affected
by actively listening and empathizing. Psychological first aid is intended to provide psychological relief to
those affected by a traumatic event. The measure should be carried out carefully, calmly and appropriately
so that the person affected feels understood. The following points should be noted :
1. Say that you are there and that something is happening! This gives the person affected the feeling that
they are not alone. The affected person feels closeness and security. This has a relieving and calming
effect
2. It is important that the person does not feel like they are being watched, which may lead to even more
distress. Onlookers not only disturb, but also usually give unnecessary advice. Shield the person affected
from onlookers
3. Carefully seek physical contact, but be careful not to make the person feel pressured. The person affe
cted finds light physical contact, such as holding the hand or shoulder, pleasant
4. Speak and listen patiently! Speaking in a calm tone can be soothing for a person.
